Zhangjiang Zhishang is located in the core area of Zhangjiang Science City in Pudong, Shanghai. It was transformed from the former Zhangjiang Cement Factory (an industrial relic from 1971), with a total construction area of approximately 440,000 square meters. It encompasses research and development offices, cultural and commercial spaces, and ecological landscape areas. Positioned as a “highland of science, innovation, and culture,” it integrates cutting-edge industries such as biomedicine and artificial intelligence. It was jointly designed by 12 international architectural masters, including Tada Tadao. The lighting narrative balances the heaviness of industrial heritage with the avant-garde nature of the science and innovation district, creating garden-quality offices and naturally relaxed urban public open spaces. It revitalizes the site and shapes a “new landmark of Zhangjiang” suitable for both day and night.
